GUNTECH: A New Era of Gun Mix

Amidst the challenging landscape of 2020, HarbisonWalker International was able to celebrate a successful year for our focus on supplying a high-performance, maintenance gunning refractory solution. Following several years of benchmarking and development work, 2020 marked the first full year of GUNTECH™ 60 – a commercially available, 60% alumina, gunning monolithic that consistently meets the installation performance criteria of our customers.

Along with GUNTECH™ 60, HWI also introduced GUNTECH™ 60Z, GUNTECH™ 60AR and GUNTECH™ 65AL. All of HWI’s new GUNTECH™ gun mixes have been designed for easy installation without compromising installed properties. As the latest addition to our product portfolio, these mixes offer extremely low dust and rebound rates, a wide water range, and ON-LINE® rapid cure/rapid fire technology for faster turnaround.

GUNTECH™ 60
This workhorse maintenance gun mix requires no pre-dampening and has a wide water range. Dryout can begin immediately after the material has set.

• No pre-dampening
• ON-LINE® performance
• High strength (HMOR,CCS)
• Good abrasion resistance

GUNTECH™ 60Z
This mix has all of the benefits of GUNTECH™ 60, but also contains zirconia for alkali and thermal shock resistance.

GUNTECH™ 60 AR
This mix has all of the benefits of GUNTECH™ 60, but has been formulated for excellent alkali resistance.

GUNTECH™ 65 AL
This mix has of the benefits of GUNTECH™ 60, but contains an aluminum inhibitor for increased resistance to aluminum metal penetration.
