HarbisonWalker International Updates Mobile Refractory Tools

Nov 30, 2020 / Press Releases

HWI’s mobile app adds functionalities and enhancements to reflect customers’ needs

PITTSBURGH, PA — November 30, 2020 —To make it even easier to optimize its refractory products and services in the field, HarbisonWalker International (HWI), the industry’s largest supplier in North America, has enhanced its Mobile Refractory Tools app based on customer input.

The free app for iOS and Android devices is available with basic functionalities for all users. HWI customers and members of HWI’s Contractor/Installer (C/I) Network can log in on the app for more new features and updates to existing functions.

“We are always listening to our customers, and the latest advancements in our mobile app reflect what our contractor/installers and customers told us would help them the most on the job,” says Mike Werner, SVP, Commercial at HarbisonWalker International. “HWI app users can find and calculate what they need to know about our products and services when they need them. We’re constantly innovating with technology to help our customers and the overall refractories industry, with offerings like our High Temperature Times podcast and our Mobile Refractory Tools app. Ongoing updates to the app are an important part of our commitment.”

All app users can access the refractory mix calculator to compute mix ratios and times for HWI products; search safety data sheets (SDS); find HWI distribution center (DC) locations, and contact HWI. Customers with business portal accounts receive basic access, along with product data, including datasheets, installation guidelines, curing and dryout schedules, and the new kiln brick calculator. In addition to all of the above functions, members of HWI’s C/I Network can also search real-time inventory at DC locations and review complete activator information that includes descriptions, benefits, uses, and mixing ratios. They can also gain access to HWI’s Pocket Reference Guide, which contains comprehensive product information, brick sizes, shapes and combinations, sprung arches, anchors, and area and volume data.

To ensure access under off-line conditions, users will not need a data connection to use the mix calculator or the kiln brick calculator. A data connection is necessary to log in to use the product documentation, product inventory, activator information, and DC information.
