Introducing THORBIDE – Our Newest High Alumina Brick with Silicon Carbide

HarbisonWalker International’s latest THORBIDE family was developed specifically for the toughest of service environments where the ultimate in resistance to alkali attack and protection from build ups are required to maintain stable operation. The THORBIDE family targets processes utilizing high levels of alternate fuels or raw materials where aggressive alkali attack is the primary wear mechanism.

In addition, the physical properties of THORBIDE provide superior strength for mechanically stressed areas, making it perfect for application in rotary kilns and stationary vessels.

Uniquely engineered with a balance of materials and grain sizing, THORBIDE products are aimed to improve plant operations, specifically targeting areas of build-up and alkali attack.

THORBIDE brick provide outstanding resistance to the toughest of service environments where mechanical stresses limit the service life of traditional 50% alumina brick.
