Channel induction furnaces are commonly used for melting low-melting-point alloys and/or as a holding and superheating unit. Channel induction furnaces consist of a refractory-lined steel shell that contains molten metal. The two types of channel furnaces are horizontal and vertical. Horizontal furnaces are lined with brick refractory, while vertical furnaces can be lined with brick, castable, or dry-vibe refractory. HWI offers refractory solutions for a variety of metal types, including gray iron, malleable iron, and ductile iron. For example, KORUNDAL XD® and RUBY® brick are used in acidic slag conditions. IRONMASTER® brick can be used on the receivers and end walls due to its slag resistance.
