Boilers

Industrial boilers are used in a wide range of industries for generating steam or heat for factories, hospitals, laundry, food-processing plants, paper plants, and many others. A deteriorated refractory (for example, spalling lining decay or cracking) can result in a loss of boiler efficiency, causing hot spots on the casing or outer shell of the furnace.

Refractory brick and tile in fireclay compositions such as EMPIRE® DP and CLIPPER® DP and SAIRSET® mortar, patching refractories and plasters (SUPER HYBOND® and GREENPATCH-421), and castables are used in the construction and maintenance of the boilers. CLIPPER® DP super-duty fireclay bricks have good strengths and are used in areas where there are moderate temperatures. Monolithic refractories are used for their super-duty fireclay and have excellent adhesion properties and low shrinkage. Patching maintenance with GREENPATCH-421 provides a product with chemistries that match the brick and plastics used.
